At Croton Point - September 22nd - 29th 2014

Greetings from Site #37 once again. We have Ray & Kathy Merz (R&K) at site #33, Vicki & George Smith (V&G) at site #35, and Winnie and me on #37.

Those 3 tree clumps will be our campsites...right to the corner

Looking forward to another week of relaxing and sharing RV experiences with friends.  The best learning is accomplished by those who have "been there and done that." There are a couple of items on the RV that need "looking into" and this is a good time and place for me to tinker on these "projects."  Ha; each will take minutes.  They are not major and I can live with both items.  It's a hassle driving 2 hours back and forth to Kingston every time there's a glitch.  They're more "adjustments" vs. warranty repair work.

In addition, I've given invitations to friends who have been to the site before and enjoyed the peaceful serenity of sitting around and chatting with a glass of wine and/or beer and some chips & dip; or, just a visit to walk the area near the Hudson River.  If it all works out, photos will be shared.  Late word has determined that one couple will be in Canada and the other in Puerto Rico visiting son & family with a new grandchild, so 'visitor traffic' will be minimal.  I would like to get someone special to visit all three of us:  Oscar & Mary Ellen Scherer....."back in the day," our mutual boss.  I hope the timing will fit into all our schedules. They're waiting for the arrival of their daughter, Karyn's (my godchild), new baby who will make its debut at anytime. There's one more possibility I'm working on that I know will please both VC and RM for Sunday .

Weather-wise, for the week, we have this to look forward to:
  • Monday Night Mostly clear. Cooler with lows in the mid 40s. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph.
Yes. This is correct; right now it's 55 and should be 44 degrees by sunrise (6:40am)

  • Tuesday Sunny. Highs in the upper 60s. Northwest winds around 5 mph.
  • Tuesday Night Mostly clear. Lows around 50.
  • Wednesday Sunny. Highs in the upper 60s.
  • Wednesday Night Mostly clear. Lows in the upper 40s.
  • Thursday Sunny. Highs around 70.
  • Thursday Night Mostly clear. Lows in the lower 50s.
  • Friday Sunny. Highs in the mid 70s.
  • Friday Night Mostly clear. Lows in the lower 50s.
  • Saturday Sunny. Highs in the upper 70s.
As you'll notice in all of my blogs, weather is a very important aspect of my life.  We are presented with a different weather pattern every day and with it, a mood is set into place that influences what we do and how we do it.  The sunny, crisp days of fall beckons one outside to walk and breathe in the smell of fall in the clean, brisk air.  Anticipating a very colorful fall this year, I've made reservations the week of October 22nd through the 29th up north to do just that.  More on that in a future blog.  When there is a dismal, drizzly/rainy day, I look forward to cozy, comfortable reading time.  I have been engrossed in Brandon Sanderson's Trilogy Mistborn: The Final Empire.  The other two in the trilogy are, The Well of Ascension and The Hero of Ages.  His newest book, I'm assuming, a sequel, is The Alloy of Law.  Unable to put the book down near the end, I wanted to complete the first book today.  I found it exciting; the ending a bit unexpected and a tad gory.  Upon completing MistbornI will have (and need) a change of pace with Steinbeck's Travels with Charley."  I'm hoping to make these blogs more pleasurable to read once I check how Steinbeck's paints his adventures.

One gift, courtesy of my neighbor, Barbara will be shared as my contribution to the dinner Saturday night.  I haven't (purposely) opened it but a little birdie told me its an apple, raisin, walnut loaf...one (ha!) of my favorites that will go just great on a chilly evening with a hot cup o joe.

Another gift received awhile back is proudly displayed this evening outdoors hanging from one of the arms of my awning.  Sister, Judith, gave me a unique mobile which charges during the day and displays its awesome colors eerily morphing till dawn's first light.
