Getting Ready....again.

It's a restless time enjoying incredibly beautiful weather and counting the days until your next adventure (9/22/2014).  I keep looking at my calendar, counting the days (11 days as I write this), and wondering why I'm not out in the "wild" enjoying nature especially at this time of the year.  I'm very fidgety.

Well, there are obligations and appointments, you know.  Someone has to be driven to Penn Station tomorrow morning and then be picked up at 5:00 pm tomorrow evening, just in time for rush hour.  Why would anyone want to miss that?  Then there's Rebeca's (granddaughter) Club soccer game on Saturday up at Yale University.  Don't want to miss that.  Below is Beca and her mom at the last Varsity soccer game at SHU (Sacred Heart University) where they lost to URI (University of Rhode Island), granddaughter, Sara's, school, 3-1.

Mommy is the little one on the left.
Next up there's TWO airport trips on Monday, the 5th.  A 2 pm pickup at JFK in from England to be followed at 6 pm with another pickup at JFK in from England.  So it's back and forth to JFK twice; who would want to miss that?  And finally, on 9/17th there's my annual physical where I will prove to the world that mercury will not do me in.

So?  What do you do to anticipate and plan for the next camping adventure?  Spend money, of course.  With each adventure you make notes as to what you need, how things work, and gradually acclimate yourself to a routine that, hopefully, will become a way of life when all the obligations and commitments disappear.  So, thanks to the Internet....I have some new additions:

CGear Sand-Free Multi Rug (5' 1" x 6' 6") that will lay out in front of Winnie and keep sand and dirt out of the RV.  At Amazon.com

2 Mini Dual 2 Ports USB Car Charger Adapter Cigarette Cigar Lighter.  One for Winnie & one for Caddy.  My Garmin GPS needs the cigarette lighter socket, the iPhone & iPad need USBs.  This $4.19 item (each, no tax, free shipping) will allow me to at least listen to my Pandora tunes via Bluetooth through the speakers of the cab without draining the iPhone battery while driving to those new and exotic adventures (yeah, right).  NewEgg

So glad I found this on line at Home Depot for $2.98/gal.  I'm sure that as the "Big Freeze" arrives, there'll be a run on these.  Winterizing the RV will be a first for me.  I must prevent the water lines from being damaged but then I want to be out of here if the freeze is prolonged.  This means winterizing here and then dewinterizing when I'm in climates above 32 degrees.  How do you time that?  It's a "we shall see" situation.

So this is what you do in the "in-between" times.  The laundry is done and packed.  All I'll need at the last minute will be the "perishables."  Oh, one final item has been ordered.  A real big find for me.  A short queen (60"x75") khaki, fitted sheet with a 4" box for my bed.  Try and find one of those at BB&B.  No such animal.  Again, thank you, Internet Mattress Insider.

So, as the days continue their beautiful but inevitable march towards that depressing time of the year of early sunsets, lowering temperatures, and always that threat of snow, my thinking has me cozy inside an RV with thoughts of journeys somewhere else.  Where?  Who knows?

  1. Love that USB/cigarette lighter adapter. Cool. Also glad to see you picked up outdoor carpeting. You will definitely notice a difference. After all, you won't always have Savannah to sweep out Winnie!

  2. LOL. Very funny. Yes, Savannah was precious. Wait till she sees that I now have a small size broom, just her size, to clean the next time she visits.
