Croton 9/25/14 - Morning

Good morning.  Woke up to a dreary, cool (60 degrees) Thursday with a 50% change of rain.  Weather forecast used the word "downpours" so this will be a first.  The rain has begun.  With this, a ray of sunshine awaits, however.  Checking my finances on line, I see Social Security has been deposited in my account.  Thank you, me.  After a 40 year career, that's the least I can do for myself, right?  For those readers who have yet to receive SS, you'll someday sit back and marvel at the fact that a sum of money appears in your checking account when you've done nothing to earn it (well, I mean now).  You certainly have worked for it.

Yesterday was (my) "Mother's Day".  I drove up to Fishkill to pick her up so she could spend the day here at the campsite.  She visited once before but more as passing through visit with Judy.  Sitting outside with a light jacket in the sun was a perfect day for her.  She thoroughly enjoyed it.  Judy stopped by about 5:15pm to pick her up and return home.  She's now another addition to my previous blog, "Winnie's Visitors."

Mom's (95 years old) Visit

Last night I was invited to join the Hoffmans' for dinner locally here in Croton.  Their choice was Tavern on the Hudson.  When I arrived we found there was a 30 minute wait.  Instead, we traveled up the street to Anton's, now serving dinner...Spanish-American cuisine.

Medallions of beef tenderloin, mushrooms, brandy shallot sauce, mashed potatoes, and grilled vegetables

When I returned to the campsite, the gang (R&K, V&G) had a fire going which worked perfectly to take the chill out of the night air.

The ingredients for s'mores were there but no takers.  Everyone ate well and didn't need the decadence that comes with s'mores.

I'm leaving now in the light rain to run a few errands.  Will make breakfast when I return and then get together with VC and Ray at some point to iron out some computer/iPhone/blog/issues we all have.  A great rainy day activity.  I will also try to get back into Travels with Charley.

Update, no doubt, will follow.
