Thursday:
Spent a lazy day doing nothing; a short walk, tasty lunch and dinner, and took another big chunk of reading out of that mammoth 1,258 page novel. I'm on page 984 and Brandon Sanderson is starting to tie in characters and incidents to wrap it all up. You could say he's written six individual but related novels in one work. He's jumped from one to another and now he's bringing all the characters together. Their individual and independent sagas are part of the whole. Genius. Actually, "lazy days" is what can be said of most of my days when I travel with Winnie.....isn't that the object? I am wallowing in my good fortune of having missed all that's going on weather-wise is the northeast. Stay safe, warm, and cozy. Seems I've conveyed that message before....three times? With more coming, it really is eerie.
A new member to "Winnie's Visitors" is Joe from Erie, PA. He owns the luxurious, huge rig next to me and the lot it sits on.
He wanted a "view" of my View. Realizing he'll be down-sizing in five years, he wanted to see and was very impressed with Winnie's interior. We had a nice, long chat. I learned a lot about him. Being they owned the pad their rig was on, they had tile laid for their patio which looked terrific.
Tonight is my last night here at Key Largo Kampground. It marks the end of day 25 and the furthest south I've traveled with "Winnie." Fortunately, I've been to Key West, Florida, the furthest point south in the Continental United States, in May of 2012 and spent a couple of days there, so I don't feel I'm missing anything.
Not really the furthest point in the US; that's located on adjacent land 900' further south and owned by the U.S. Navy and cannot be entered by civilian tourists. |
Stunning and real |
Of course, I found a great sushi restaurant: Origami Japanese Restaurant. |
Outstanding. A quiet patio away from crowds of tourists on a side street. Yes, there's two missing. Good catch. |
Not being Triskaidekaphobic, I will
be 'on the road again,' tomorrow, Friday, the 13th. It will be a 5 hour trip with a
stop in Boca
Raton
for lunch and then on to Port Orange in the Daytona Beach Shores area. This time I'll be staying at
Carefree RV at Daytona Beach . It should be interesting (and
crowded) because this weekend the qualifiers will be preparing less than 6 miles away. The Daytona
500 is at the Daytona International Speedway February 22nd.
See you tomorrow in Port Orange, FL.
