Days 26-28 - Port Orange, FL

Carefree RV at Daytona Beach 2/13/2015 - 2/16/2015
4601 S. Clyde Morris Blvd
Port Orange, FL, 32129

My drive north from Key Largo went well.  It was a beautiful driving day.  I stopped in Boca Raton, about 117 miles into my journey to meet and have lunch with my cousin, Norma, at the City Fish Market.  It was an upscale restaurant and an attraction for the upper class seniors in Boca.

I had the Boston Lemon Sole, blackened with
whipped sweet potatoes and spinach sauteed in
garlic and oil.  A glass or two of Chardonnay
 topped it off nicely.

The remainder of the 317 mile trip got me to the Carefree RV Campground in Port Orange about 5:07p.m.  The office closes at 5:00 but the nice folks happen to still be there and were able to complete my registration and I was set up at site #67 in no time.

The Internet is provided by Tengo Internet Service and it's a subscription deal if you're here for more than a week.  It's similar to purchasing Internet time while in the airport or aboard the plane. Because I'm here for only 4 days, I was given coupons to use each day for the free access. (????) A first time experience....having to pay for Internet service.

My dear friend, Mya, who lives in Port Orange, stopped by this morning before work and enjoyed a Valentine's Day breakfast of French toast and bacon.  It was the first time I had a visitor (outside of NYS) stop in for a meal.  Nice.

Lucky her, she has now joined my growing number of "Winnie's Visitors." To date, would you believe, 61 people (and 3 dogs) have visited Winnie?

I extend an informal invitation to those who read my blog and care to pay a visit.  Just let me know so we can arrange a date and time. Chances are it will be when I'm setup in Croton's RV Park.  I think, most of my readers are  in the Westchester area.  FYI, my next stay in Croton will be from June 22, 2015 until July 6, 2015 with more planned as the summer goes on.

This campground/resort is huge as are many of the rigs set up here.  The sites are really packed in close together and, in my case, I'm snuggled up close with the fella behind me.  The placement of the sewer is about 30' feet away from my black water tank hookup.  As I am one person, there's no urgency in dumping while I'm here.  There's no more than 20' from side to side or back to back.  I'm pretty sure sites are available for sale.  It is evident that many are permanent mobile homes.

Awning partially extended because the sun felt
soooooooo good

I've seen an amazing number of Canadians, not
only in this campground but in all others
I've visited so far in Florida: Clermont,
Port Orange, DelRay, and Key Largo.
The flag above, on the rig behind, me has both
the US and Canadian flags printed on the fabric.

Perhaps some of my blog followers have given thought to purchasing an RV.  Well, here's one, I'm toying with.  This is a peek at my new RV, an upgrade....actually, it's smaller so it could be a "downgrade."  My cousin, John, living just outside Boston has made so much money shoveling over 3+' of snow (so far--another blizzard due overnight), that he's buying it for me.
What a guy.  Take a look:

Thanks for visiting.  Good night and stay warm and safe up north.  Check out the video:

  1. Hi Cuz, well, as I promised (in writing???), your Klassen RV (see video above) has been delivered, but you need to pick it up here in Boston by tomorrow as Donald Trump is next in line and won't wait....given the weather (yep, another 12" snow here today), be sure Winnie is outfitted with snow tires and chains.... - John

  2. Thanks, John. But first you've got to tell them to dig out that tractor trailer carrying the yacht from the snow bank so Winnie can get through. Boy, are you getting slammed. If not be tomorrow, let Trump have it. I'll wait.

  3. What ever the last picture was, it said, "This plug-in is not supported." We hardly got any snow in this last blast, but we did get the wind. It keeps blowing out my natural fas fireplace. M*
