Saturday/Sunday:

Happy Valentine's Day

Beautiful granddaughter wishing
everyone a Happy Valentine's Day
yesterday.

Saturday was a full and beautiful day. All my Valentine greetings were sent and some very nice sentiments and thanks returned.  Thanks to all who took the time.

Going home

Friday night, around 8:30 pm, I heard what sounded like airplanes revving up to take off.
Then I thought the wind was picking up and gusts of wind would soon rock Winnie.  It was neither.
I opened the door to check outside and heard the distant roar; for some reason it sounded louder in the coach.  It turned out to be the qualifying runs over at the Daytona International Speedway sponsored by Sprint for the Daytona 500 which will run on Sunday, February 22nd.  Today, Sunday morning, I heard the characteristic drone of a dirigible and caught a glimpse of the Goodyear blimp headed for the International Speedway just as it does for all major events in the Daytona area.  Later that afternoon, I captured a nice shot of it as it made its way back down to New Smyrna Beach where they tether the two Goodyear blimps. I was very impressed with the zoom on my camera.  Studying the  gondola beneath the mammoth ship gives a better perspective of the size of a person.

Weather, weather, weather, decisions, decisions, decisions
Once again my attention is being distracted by the constant onslaught of nasty weather in the northeast. The fourth consecutive weekend..into Monday is upon us. Today, the Boston area gets it again.  I have also my personal meteorologist, my sister, Judy, informing me of winter storm Octavia that'll bring 12-18" to coastal Virginia on Monday.  As I write this the temperatures at the next 5 sites I'll be staying at are:

Jekyll Island, GA:     46°
Bluffton, SC:              43°
Myrtle Beach, NC:     36°
Virginia Beach, VA:  27° and
Clarksboro, NJ:         12°

More on this in later blogs where I'll be taking it day by day and forecast by forecast.  For the readers who think, 'what's the big deal in extending your stay,' suffice it to say there are many variables, circumstances, and conditions that come into play and need to be considered in the decision-making process.   Shall we say, "it's easier said than done?"

By the way, if you weren't able to see the video of the Klassen Business Luxury Van in yesterday's post, CLICK HERE
(I love the music)
See you at Jekyll Island Campground, Georgia tomorrow afternoon.

  1. I can't believe you are leaving Florida already. It seems like you just got here. The blimp photos were impressive, nice job. It's a shame that you can't extend your stay a bit longer, but I don't think all that snow will be gone even when we roll into Croton on April Fool's Day.

    1. I agree. Getting home is only 1/2 the problem. There's the parking area (which, I'm sure, will be plowed out with advance notice from me), winterizing Winnie which I will do in the last campsite I'm in, and finally, digging out my Caddy so I can transfer perishables to bring back home. Long story short....I don't want to do any of it. LOL

  2. I saw the video of the van. It's pretty impressive, but I'm sure it's worth too many gobs of money. I'd rather have a mobile deal like yours that seems more people friendly.

We've missed the really bad stuff with the last three weather systems. Mostly the wind and the cold, and that certainly grabs your attention when you go outside.

Spring signs are starting to show up. Even though it's cold, the birdls are twittering away in the bushes on the sunney days. The cats are starting to shed and they are tossijg up fur balls all over the rugs. Little Bit prefers to relieve himself of fur balls on the furniture. I think he likes to watch me clean it up, what a mess. The sun is toasting up my place in the late mornings and early afternoons.
